Community Based Ecotourism Field Study

Northern India

I was extremely fortunate to be selected as a New Colombo Plan Grant recipient through Griffith University that allowed me to undertake a 3-week intensive Community Based Ecotourism Field Study course in Northern India.

The field study components included lectures on-site at the Wildlife Institute of India, field studies in Jim Corbett National Park, and a homestay program at Camp Hornbill.

This opportunity allowed me to:

• Demonstrate strong awareness of tourism/ecotourism management principles

• Apply theoretical knowledge in a community-based ecotourism context to critically evaluate the practices and development of tourism in that context

• Demonstrate interpersonal communication skills in a multi-cultural context

• Reflect on professional skills and personal attributes required for a career in community-based ecotourism management

Find my final presentation evidencing the characteristics of sustainable ecotourism I had observed during our homestay at Camp Hornbill below.
